The Big One – Part 13
We approach to the end.
I work now on the visible part of the belly at the right of the elephant. From conventional cracks on the the top, folds down toward 3 directions while defining the volume of the belly. the cracks are gradually changing in folds. This is the hard part of the work.
The Big One – Part 12
After a several months pause in the serie of posts related to the making of “The Big One”, I come back on air and post the new steps until the final.
As a reminder, “The Big One” is an oil painting of 2.50 meters high and 2 meters wide, representing an elephant in full charge. This is the biggest painting I’ve ever done. Working during the weekend, it is now about a year since I started. I invite you to discover the earlier steps of the painting and small videos that I uploaded.
After the trunk and tusks, I had to do the legs and yhe body of the elephant. I applied a diluted juice that allows me to draw the large volumes (light and shadow) without the details of the cracks.
Great Kudu
Here is a study of Great Kudu. This antelope from East Africa can be 1.50 m tall at the shoulder and its horns can be 1.80 m long.
3D will revolutionize Art
On this subject, I had fun by reworking one of my paintings in stereoscopy. Stereoscopy is an old way to see in “3D” without special glasses.
Save the Date
From Friday 26th to Monday 29th of march 2010
As each year, and since 5 years, I will present my work on the Salon de la Chasse de Rambouillet 2010. from Friday 26th to Monday 29th of march 2010.
This year, it was planned to move the show, which usually sat on the Hippodrome de Rambouillet, in a more prestigious place : the park of Château de Rambouillet.
For now, this project is on stand by, some pseudo-environmentalists are lobbying to prevent implantation on the new site. I give you info of any changes.
Find me on my Stand D37 :
If you want to receive one or two invitations, send me an email with an object like last year “Stéphane, You’re the best!”
