Hunting dogs – Pastel N°4
Following the serie of drawings of hunting dogs in black pencil and pastel with this 4th achievement.
Three-colors in pastel N°3
Also in the serie of pastels on Mi-tones paper from Canson , I tested a different color paper. So it is on a dark slate color paper that I drew this running dog.
The result is nice, unfortunately lighting must be perfect because black pencil reflects too much light.

Running Dogs – Pastel N°2
We follow the series of pastels on hunting dogs .
the particularity of what I propose today is that it is the same dog in two race attitudes. The process allows to give in the same drawing the dynamic of race and gives fluency in reading the drawing.
Foxhound pack – Pastel N°1

The subject of hunting dogs is well suited for the exercise because the color palette is composed for these dogs from Black, brown, red and white.
here is the first one :

Hunting lioness Painting

The Big One – Part 8
“The Big One” is progressing slowly. I finally got through a step : to down a notch my scaffolding
This is not nothing!
Here’s a short video taken this weekend:
I think that from now it will go much faster, most of crackelings of the tube is finished, I will work on folds, which are much easier to do.
The more complicated here, is to keep the same color, a uniform tone, along with a large period of execution , especially when certain colors appear less bleak when drying.

Hunting Lioness
On my easel, a lioness hunting. I wanted to capture the moment “before”: the meticulous approach, sort of furtive way towards the prey.
The gaze is fixed, the head does not move, shoulders swaying gently, only the tail may betray his presence, as if she couldn’t control her excitement until her extremity (wouhaou it sounds like poetry …). Read the rest of this entry »
