Portrait de Stéphane Alsac, artiste peintre animalier et wildlife artist

Stéphane Alsac is a French wildlife artist renowned for his representations of great anatomical precision and intense dramatic force. Working regularly on large-format pieces, he seeks to create a physical and immersive encounter between the viewer and the animal — bringing into focus both the sovereignty and the vulnerability of the wild world.

Travelling several months a year deep into the wild spaces of Europe and Africa to conduct field studies, Stéphane has developed an intimate knowledge of wildlife. Back in the calm of his studio, he transposes his sketches and lived emotions onto canvas through patient work in oil and watercolour. Far from seeking mere technical prowess or cold realism, his approach aims to capture the truth of a gaze or the tension of a suspended moment — placing the rigour of his brush at the service of pure emotion.

A Signature Member of the prestigious Society of Animal Artists (USA), Stéphane Alsac’s work is regularly exhibited and distinguished at leading international shows. He has notably received the Wildlife Artist of the Year Award (USA), the Award of Excellence for Conservation (Canada) and the Baron Prize at the Salon des Artistes Animaliers (France).

Convinced that painting the wild implies a direct responsibility towards it, Stéphane actively links his art to on-the-ground conservation. A portion of the funds generated by the acquisition of original works and art editions directly supports partner conservation programmes — including Origins Foundation, Explorers Against Extinction et Wires in Australia — making each collector an active participant in that protection.

« For me, painting the wild is a way of bearing witness to the beauty of a precious and fragile world. It is an exercise in humility and patience. Through my art, I simply hope to offer a moment of pause — a sincere face-to-face with those species that share our planet and whose survival now depends on the way we look at them. » — Stéphane Alsac, Artist

Sophie Alsac, wildlife artist

Sophie Alsac oversees the day-to-day development and life of the Stéphane Alsac Studio. At once coordinator and privileged point of contact for collectors, she ensures the essential link between the creation and those who bring it to life — from organising exhibitions to the meticulous logistics of large-format canvases across the world.

Present from the very beginning of this adventure, Sophie shares Stéphane’s universe at every stage. She accompanies him to international shows as well as field expeditions in Europe and Africa. Through her attentive presence and rigorous management, she gives the artist the serenity and creative freedom indispensable to his work, while welcoming partners and collectors with a natural simplicity and sincerity.

A mother of four, she cultivates a simple, warm balance between family life and the life of the Studio. Together, Sophie and Stéphane form an inseparable pair in which the patience of organisation meets the demands of creation every day — making the Studio an adventure that is, above all, a human one.

« Watching over the life of a studio is first and foremost a story of trust and sharing. My role is to preserve that freedom to create which is the soul of Stéphane’s work, while ensuring that every encounter with a collector is a sincere extension of the emotion of the canvas. » — Sophie Alsac, Studio Director
