"Tiger Kid 2"
The tiger (Panthera tigris) is the world's largest feline. Tiger cubs are born with the species' characteristic striped coat already in place — each individual has its own pattern of stripes, like a fingerprint. They do not leave the maternal den until several weeks old, and their fur is still softer and thicker than that of the adult.
The cub advances straight towards the viewer, head low, one paw raised — a play posture or a mock charge. The viewpoint slightly below, as though one were at its level, makes it at once more menacing and more touching. It is this double register — power in miniature, the grace of the predator still candid — that makes the subject of this frontal composition.
