In 'The Sanctum', my artistic intention was to create a vision in which the jungle becomes a timeless sanctuary, a sacred place beyond the reach of mankind's destructive hands. The gorilla, majestic and powerful, stands as a guardian — the silent protector of this virgin, preserved space. It symbolises the strength and ancestral wisdom of nature, embodying the role of keeper of the secrets and mysteries buried in the depths of this forest. The painting invites the viewer to connect with nature in all its wild splendour, and to recognise the beauty and fragility of this threatened world.

The composition of 'The Sanctum' is organised around the gorilla, which occupies a central place and becomes the focal point of the work. It is slightly off-centre, creating a visual dynamic that guides the viewer's gaze through the dense jungle vegetation. The massive trees and lush plants frame the scene, forming a natural arch that evokes the idea of a gateway to a hidden kingdom. The light filtering through the foliage creates a luminous path — an invitation to explore this wild land. The gorilla's position, with its broad shoulders and intense gaze, reinforces its protective role, while the background dissolves into a subtle mist, suggesting the immensity and mystery of this jungle.

The atmosphere is at once mystical and soothing, with a palette dominated by deep greens, blue-greys, and touches of golden light. The dark, saturated tones of the foliage create a sense of thickness and depth, making the humidity of the forest almost palpable. Rays of soft light, piercing through the canopy, bring a feeling of calm and serenity while highlighting the gorilla's silver coat — a symbol of wisdom and mature age.
