"In her Footsteps"
Oil on canvas
The leopard is a solitary feline. Yet before it was solitary, there was a mother. Months of learning side by side — hunting, hiding, reading the wind. Then one day, the young one departs. It does not look back. It already knows everything it needs to know.
That is what transmission is. Not a speech. Footsteps to follow, gestures to observe, a presence carried within.
I painted this work during a particular period of my life. In the mornings, I painted. In the afternoons, I was by her side. This painting carries something of those days — that strange light one sees only in suspended moments, when time slows and what is essential rises to the surface.
'Dans ses Pas'. Because we always walk a little in the footsteps of those we love.
