"Razzle Dazzle"

'Razzle Dazzle': the English expression for a noisy and confusing situation. It is also the name given to American ships from the First World War, painted in highly contrasting oblique patterns — directly inspired by the natural camouflage of zebras. The idea was not to conceal them, but to make any estimation of their heading and speed impossible.
That is exactly what I felt finding myself in the middle of the Great Migration in Kenya. Thousands of zebras in motion, a compact mass of crossing, overlapping, blurring black-and-white stripes. The eye seeks a line, an individual, a direction — and finds only movement.
In this large-format work, I wanted to place the viewer where the predator stands: face to face with this living camouflage, searching in the mass for the most vulnerable individuals. In this painting, there are three calves. Can you find them?
