"Buffalo Kid"

The African buffalo (Syncerus caffer) is one of the most imposing animals of the savannah. At birth, the calf is light caramel, with large ears and barely formed horns.

What strikes is the gaze — direct, without suspicion, with the calm of very young animals. The calf is rendered in warm colours against a barely sketched graphite background: not finishing the surrounding grasses concentrates all attention on the face. A portrait, not an illustration.
