"Fawn study"
The roe deer fawn (Capreolus capreolus) is born spotted — these white dapplings on the back disappear before autumn and serve as camouflage in the spring vegetation. For its first few weeks, it remains motionless in the tall grass while the doe feeds at a distance.
The fawn stands but is not yet steady — legs spread, head turned to one side as if hearing something. It is this fragility of the first days that the pencil seeks to render: the limbs still too long for the body, the spots barely visible on the flank. No background — just the fawn, in the white of the page.
