"wild boar on the run"
The wild boar (Sus scrofa) is the largest wild suid in Europe. An adult male can exceed one hundred and fifty kilograms, with a powerful body, thick neck, and domed forehead. At a gallop, despite its bulk, it can reach 45 km/h and maintain that pace for several hundred metres.
The boar is shown in full stride, in strict profile, in the characteristic attitude of the gallop: body low, head aligned with the direction of movement, one foreleg stretched forward. The precision of the rendering — detailed bristles, black shine of the hooves — contrasts with the lightness of the wash background and the sketched vegetation at the foot. That contrast says something of the animal itself: a massive force in rapid movement, against a background of a world that fades away.
